therapies can be used to enhance your pregnancy and birth experience.
Aromatherapy and massage are used to assist with relaxation and minor ailments
of pregnancy whilst moxibustion can help to turn a breech baby into the head
down position. Complementary Birth offers a wide range of treatments which can
improve health and wellbeing to promote the best possible outcome.
Please note complementary therapies can be very powerful and are not safe for everyone. If you have any medical condition or pregnancy complication requiring medication or regular medical check-ups, it is wise to check with your midwife or doctor before using any complementary therapies or natural remedies.
Always inform your midwife or doctor if you're receiving complementary therapies during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you are using aromatherapy oils, herbs, homeopathic or Bach flower remedies at home during pregnancy or want to use them in labour.
Moxibustion is part of
traditional Chinese medicine which utilises the power of the bladder meridian
in order to turn a breech baby (bottom down) to head down. The method is based
on acupressure points which are situated within energy lines (meridians).
Moxibustion's success rate means that you may not need to undergo an ECV which
involves an obstetrician manually turning your baby into the heard down
position. Moxibustion is none evasive and simple.
Complementary Birth will teach you
how the method works and demonstrate the correct usage of the mugwort candles
in order to turn your baby. Moxibustion has been shown to have a success rate
on average between 66% and 90% (Cardini et al 1991, 1993, 1998, 2005).
